Russell Maher a patient of the Hospice of the Western Reserve was recognized at a pinning ceremony at his home on January 3, 2012. He was surrounded by his wife Emily, family, friends, and employees from the Hospice of the Western Reserve. Russell was recognized for his service and dedication in the United States Army. Lake Geauga Catholic District CARES for the Separated/Divorced is celebrating 12 years of ministry. They offer support groups, workshops, and healing services for those who are separated, divorced, or in the process of divorce or annulment. This ministry offers a series of weekly support group meetings at several churches within the Lake/Geauga District. In addition, six 2-hour workshops address the needs of those who are separated or divorced. Click the link below for a complete 2010-2011 schedule.

The Domestic Violence and Child Advocacy Center is an organization that helps to break the cycle of abuse. They have a commitment to address both child abuse and domestic violence. Their goal is to respond to all who are victimized in these situations, intending to serve children, parents, caregivers, domestic violence and child-abuse victims.
Child Abuse and Domestic violence are often related. They are part of a continuum of relationship abuse which includes physical and sexual child abuse, bullying, teen dating abuse, stalking, intimate partner violence, and elder abuse. Abusers along the continuum often rely on the same strategies: isolation, threats, guilt, blame, forcing silence, and attacking self-esteem. Read on...

The Paper Retriever program benefits St. Mary Magdalene by raising funds for our parish church and it benefits the environment and community. Through the recycling of newspapers, magazines, catalogs and mail, collectively we reduce landfill use, save water and energy.
